Terms of Court and General Information

• Terms begin, the 3rd Monday, Jan., Apr., July & Oct.
• Civil Motions are set by the Court.
• Hon. John E. Wetsel, Jr. and Hon. John R. Prosser hear the Civil Docket in Winchester. Judge Wetsel's civil motions day is usually the 4th Thursday of each month beginning at 9:00 a.m. Judge Prosser's civil motions day is usually the 4th Friday of each month beginning at 1:00 p.m. Judge Prosser hears all even numbered civil cases. Judge Wetsel hears all odd numbered cases.
• Misdemeanor appeals days, 4th Tues., each month or as set by the Court. You are advised to check the Court calendar as occasionally this day is changed by court order. Check our website for any updates or changes to the Court calendar.
• Grand Jury meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
• Praecipe must be filed not less than 7 days preceding Motion Day.
• Court convenes 9:00 a.m.
